From CNET:

TiVo goes live with Amazon Unbox partnership

Just went and got this all signed up for and sent the first video to my TiVo. Hopefully when I get home this evening, I will have Little Miss Sunshine sitting on my TiVo waiting for me to watch. Super easy to get this set up and one click downloading to order, so the interface is pretty easy. It would be nice to be able to make a queue of some sort though.

Pretty good terms for a rental too. You get 30 days to watch it, but once you have started it, you must watch it within 24 hours. Also, if you sign up now, you get $15 in videos for free.

Biggest disappointment so far? This isn't something that I could just do as part of my Netflix subscription.

More once I see the other side.

Amazon & TiVo

Announcement from Tivo & Amazon that you will be able to download movies from Amazon to your Tivo for either rental or to buy. Sweet!

Damn you AMC Theatres

I am getting more and more annoyed daily that there are no showtimes for Clerks 2 out yet. I was really hoping to hit a midnight showing on Thursday or something, but without tickets even being available yet, I have no clue of when I may be able to see this movie. Damnit! Come on AMC, give me the info so I can plan (a first for me ;)

Almost Here

They're Coming Back ...

Clerks II - July 21, 2006

Talladega Nights

The trailer for Talladega Nights over on Apple trailers is rather funny. But I still think the best line of the whole trailer is the last one. Check it out and let me know if you agree.

More Movies

Watched some more movies over the last few days.

First, I watched Dickie Roberts - Former Child Star. I had little to no expectations for this movie. It really hadn't seem to do much in the theaters, so I figured it was going to be background noise. Luckily, I was pleasantly surprised. This was actually pretty funny. Had some definite laugh out loud moments. Not going to win any awards, but definitely funny.

Watched Elektra last night. I thought this was really good. Some great action in it. And anything with Jen Garner can't be that bad. A very nice looking movie too.

Movie Weekend

Spent much of the weekend on the couch catching up on Netflix and some TiVo.

Closer. This was a cool flick. A little hard to follow at times, since it jumped around a bunch in time, but otherwise I liked it. Natalie Portman half naked in parts was also a plus :)

Ray. This movie was incredible. It is amazing that Ray actually survived as much as he went through. Definitely an incredible soul and an amazing musician and I think this movie was a great representation of his life.

Napoleon Dynamite. Cute movie. I've heard the more you watch it the more you like it.

The Battle of Shaker Heights. This was the last Project Greenlight movie. I definitely saw a lot of potential in this movie, but it fell a bit short. I think this may be a byproduct of Project Greenlight. I've been watching the current season and I can see where things might cause the movie to stray from what seems to be an excellent concept to a so so movie.

That's a first

Got a movie from Netflix that was just about cracked in two. Nice that I was able to report the shipping problem via the web site and they will send me the next available copy. Gotta love their service. Now I just need to remember to send the broken one back tomorrow.

Garden State

Watched Garden State on Tuesday. Cool movie. Definitely related to it in many ways. It's sort of a coming of age movie, but not really. It's got a good combination of humor and drama. I really enjoyed the two main characters and their interaction. And isn't Natalie Portman just the cutest girl ever? Her character really seems to bring out that cuteness of her. This movie definitely gave me a new respect for Zach Braff who wrote and directed this.

Alien Vs Predator

Watched AVP: Alien Vs. Predator yesterday morning. It was pretty good. Considering I had heard it was horrible, I enjoyed it. Something good to pass the time in the background while I did other things. The plot got a little ridiculous with the Predator teaming up with the girl, but other than that, it was neat. Some good fight scenes between the Alien and the Predator. I like the tie in to the original Alien series with Lance Henriksen being in the movie. I was really waiting for Jesse Ventura to show up though :)

Evening Harder

If you are a Kevin Smith and View Askew, you should have seen An Evening With Kevin Smith by now. Well, they now have a second movie coming out called An Evening with Kevin Smith 2: Evening Harder! The good folks over at News Askew have posted a trailer which is just hilarious. Check it out. Oh, and nice little warning label: This contains language rather unsuitable for the faint of heart and whatnot.

Malibu's Most Wanted

Malibu's Most Wanted DVD

Yet another movie, watched Malibu's Most Wanted this afternoon. This was rather amusing. I laughed a lot at the beginning, but after a while, the joke started to get older and older, so the humor sort of wore down. Overall, it was a good movie, definitely something that will pass the time and give you a few laughs.

Batman LEGO Film

The Batman LEGO Film - "Batman: Revenge" (2004)

I've had this WMV file sitting on my hard drive for a while, but never had the chance to look at it. Doing some cleaning up today, I decided to watch. All I can say is this is awesome. I don't even want to think about the time spent doing this because it boggles the mind. Just the shadows alone in some parts must have taken hours, forget all the building of the sets. Take a look, I think you will enjoy.

The Italian Job and Radio

The Italian Job DVD
Yes, I've watched a lot of movies on this long weekend.

First, I watched The Italian Job this morning. Neat movie, some cool action, but nothing all that special. I did enjoy the Mini Cooper racing. I have some guys I work with who have these and know there is no chance they could really do that :) And its never a bad thing to watch a movie with Charlize Theron.

Radio DVD

Next, I watched Radio. I thought this was a very nice story. The movie itself was good, but nothing amazing. I thought Cuba did a very good job portraying the main character Radio. It felt at points that the movie was rushed along some, but after reading a little online after the movie, I see that they kind of took a story that was 20+ years and tried to push it all in to one year and one movie. A nice watch, but somewhat sad at points, which is never a good way to start a day.

Shrek 2

Shrek 2 DVD
Watched Shrek 2 last night. It was alright. Cute plot, cute movie, had me laughing here and there, but nothing incredible from the plot piece.

On the other hand, the movie itself is just incredible. During the opening montage where the wave splashed over them, it was the most amazing thing to see the characters post water covering. The graphics were just INCREDIBLE. It just amazes me more and more how much they can do in these movies. There were a number of times when I did a double take to remember whether or not this was a live action movie or not.

Another very fun part of the DVD was watching the technical defects videos. You could tell at points what they were trying to do and how they went very wrong.

And just in case anyone was confused, the three blind mice definitely were the best performers on Far Far Away Idol :)

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

HP3 DVD

Wednesday night, I watched Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, the third installment in the Harry Potter series.

I'm a huge fan of the books, so I have really enjoyed these movies thus far. My biggest worry was that it has been a while since I read book 3, so I wasn't sure how much I was going to remember.

I definitely enjoyed this movie. The effects were very cool. The look of the movie was very different from the earlier movies, as was talked about a lot as it was coming out. The new director felt that the kids in the book were starting to get to a darker time in their life and the look of the movie reflects that.

As I went through I remembered some of the pieces of the book and there are parts that are missing and even one or two that are out of order from what I remember from the book. Otherwise, I felt it told the story real well and moved the story forward. Can't wait for the next one!

Elf

Elf DVD

Watched Elf last night. Will Ferrell is very amusing in it. It had a rather cute theme for the holidays, which I think anyone will enjoy. At the same time, I was laughing my ass off many time. Definitely a must see.

Superman's Dead

Jersey Girl

Watched Jersey Girl last night after finally returning home. I'm a huge Kevin Smith fan and knowing this was a departure of sorts for him made me really want to see this. I thought it was a great movie. The critics didn't seem to love it all that much, but I thought it had a great combination of drama and comedy. Some of the comedy I thought was even more interesting knowing Kevin's stuff. Overall, real good movie and definitely recommended.

Clerks 2

From AP via News Askew:

LOS ANGELES - Kevin Smith is making another convenience store run.

The writer-director of "Dogma," "Chasing Amy" and "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back" told the Associated Press on Friday that he has begun work on a sequel to "Clerks," his homemade indie classic from 1994.

I'm not really sure what I think of this. I loved Clerks, love it more every time I see, just so much to digest. So many little jokes that are just funny every time you see them (37!).

First off, Kevin had sadi J&SBSB was the final movie in the Jersey Trilogy (Yes, it was a 5 movie trilogy). He felt he didn't want to use those characters again. He said he made J&SBSB as a homage to the fans of the movies and as a final chapter. (Yes, I am paraphrasing). For these characters to come back so quickly worries me.

Second, they say this is going to be set 10 years after the first movie (and since Clerks X is out any day now, it really is 10 years). It also mentions in the release something along the lines of it being a movie about getting past your 20s and growing up. The reason Clerks is so good is because its about slacker 20 somethings sitting around bullshitting about life. If this is some sort of coming of age movie, it is going to ruin that piece of it.

The last thing I don't like is Kevin said he was inspired by the making of the 10th anniversary Clerks DVD. My worry here is that he is going to re-use a lot of material.

Kevin is one of my favorite writers and directors, but I just fear that if this is done wrong it could do bad things for his career.

Weekend Movies

Watched a couple of movies this weekend.

On Friday, we watched Cold Creek Manor. The movie looked pretty good from the previews. In the end, it sucked. I'm not sure if I am so used to movies having more of a plot twist these days or what, but this one just didn't have much of a plot to begin with. Basically, they told you who was the bad guy at the beginning and well, it never changed. Boring movie.

Last night I finally got to watch Lost In Translation. This was very good. I thought I might not like it as it had mixed reviews, but in the end I really enjoyed it. I'm not terribly surprised that Japaneese people are unhappy about the view of them in this movie, but other than some bad stereotypes, this is a totally enjoyable movie. And after watching this, I have developed a total crush on Scarlett Johansson.

No DD2 for Ben

According to this post on The Movie Blog, Daredevil 2 is not happening. Ben has been badmouthing the project and seemingly has no interest in doing another one. As long as Elektra still happens, I'll be happy. Mmmmmm, Jennifer Garner, mmmmm.

Comic Book Geek to Comic Book Director

CNN.com - Kevin Smith to do 'Green Hornet' film - Feb. 19, 2004

Sweet! Though, I am a day late on this due to News Askew STILL not understanding what an RSS feed is. Should be interesting to see what Kevin does with an action movie. He answered a lot of questions already on News Askew.

Also, Jersey Girl is coming out March 26th now. Must mark my calendar for that. Oh wait! That's the weekend stalker girl is supoosed to be in town, we'll definitely have to go.

Fitting?

Bravo is playing Fatal Attraction on Valentine's Day.

Memoirs Movie

Reading blogs today, Joi mentioned Spielberg is doing a movie of Memoirs of a Geisha. This should be very interesting. CMS got me to read this a few years ago and I totally enjoyed it. I'll definitely have to keep an eye on Greg's Preview of the movie to keep up on what's going on.

Movie and Speakers

Watched Pirates of the Caribbean - The Curse of the Black Pearl today. While watching it, realized my subwoofer wasn't working. Through a slow process of debugging the problem and actually reading over the manuals a couple of times, figured out a few different issues and got it working again. My neighbors below me are going to be so happy.

Movie was pretty cool. The effects for the ghosts/ghouls/whatever they were was damn sweet. The crossover beftween one state to another was just amazing. Definitely enjoyed Johnny Depp's acting in the movie, which I wasn't sure I would. And Keira Knightley was very nice to watch.

The Netflix Companion Site

Hacking NetFlix seems to be the ultimate Netflix companion site. Not only does it list all the movies that come out each week (which makes my life of figuring out what movies I want to rent much easier), but it also follows Netflix news. Definitely an RSS feed that any Netflix user should subscribe to.

HP3 Movie Trailer

The teaser trailer for Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is out! Looks good, though the teaser doesn't show all that much. So, now the wait begins for the next HP fix on June 4.

Animation in MA

The Animation Show is coming to Boston and Cambridge.

It will be in Cambridge on November 14-16 at the Brattle Theater. Then there will be midnight shoings at the Coolidge Corner Theater from November 14 - December 13.

This looks very interesting as Mike Judge of Beavis & Butthead and Office Space fame is one of the animators involved in this.

Movie Madness

I have a ton of movies between my TiVo and DVDs from Netflix. Hoping to get some (well, all) of them watched this weekend. The movie list is:

Those are just the ones available now, by Sunday, I'm going to have about 5 more. Fun Fun. Hope the couch stays comfortable :)

LOTR

Special Extended Edition Screening Engagement

Tuesday, December 16
One-time-only marathon of both the Extended Edition prints followed by the first screenings of The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.

Here's the theater list

Well, now I know where I will be spending December 16th. How many hours is this? 2 1/2 by 3? 7 1/2 hours? Sounds like a whole day kind of thing.

You say you want a revolution ...

Movie Weekend ...

Watched a couple of movies this weekend.

On Saturday I watched The Real Cancun. It was plain horrible. I thought it might rate high on the unintentional comedy scale, which it did at points but nowhere near good enough to even think about watching again. They just tried to capture the time of like a dozen people in way too short a period of time. Made it very obvious why this works as a series and not as a movie.

On Sunday I watched Punch-Drunk Love. This movie was interesting. A strange plot. Very wierd seeing Adam Sandler do a dramatic role, I just wanted him to pop out with some ridiculous line to make me laugh out loud and he never did. I thought Adam did do a very good job in the role, but the movie just didn't hit me the way I thought it should. Maybe I will watch it again some time.

Gigli Fun

CNN.com - 'I survived Gigli' shirt giveaway in Boston - Aug. 13, 2003

Looks like local station, WBCN, is having a little fun at Jenn and Ben's expense.

The funny part, in case you missed it, Ben was on Leno the other night and read a bunch of the reviews for the movie and was just laughing about them. Some of them were rather hilarious and very creative, some just plain slams (like saying only insane people would like the movie).

SW Suprise?

Star Wars Episode III Casting Update: A Surprise Return

Uh, why exactly is this a suprise? All the clones were clones of him. If they show any with their masks off, they HAVE to have him in the movie. Umm, duh and stuff.

Update: Have Clones on now and Boba Fett is a clone of Jango Fett, so he may also be playing Boba Fett. (and don't flame me if my spelling is incorrect :)

Ring Ring ...

Watched Phone Booth last night before curling up with HP5.

I liked it. I thought it was a cool psychological thriller. Showed how someone can break down the human spirit in many different ways. Keifer definitely did a good job with the voice of the crazy guy in this one, was really believable. I thought the dialog was good too and since the movie was pretty much based on dialog, it had to be in order to make this movie anywhat good. (hmm, is anywhat a word?). I thought Colin pulled off his part well as well. Going from the slick hipster to a babbling idiot who looked like he was ready to pee his pants was an interesting transition. A good movie. Nothing spectacular, but worth watching.

Biggest disappointment was the lack of Special Features on the DVD. Just a commentary and some trailers. BORING.

Definitely makes you think never to answer a pay phone though :)

Watcha Gonna Do?

when they come for you?

Bad Boys ][ comes out on Friday! I totally forgot it was out this week until I just saw a commercial that said starts Friday. This may be something to do this weekend, as I am trying to (once again) avoid going to the bars.

I love the first movie, seen it a TON of times, own it on DVD, etc, so this is one movie I have waited for for many moons. Been following the progress of this on Upcoming Movies for a long time and was psyched to hear that it was really happening and now it is here. Yay!

DVD Reloaded

Yahoo! News - 'Reloaded' Video Arrives with 3rd 'Matrix'

"Reloaded," starring Keanu Reeves (news), Laurence Fishburne (news) and Carrie-Anne Moss (news), is slated for release Oct. 14 on DVD and VHS at a retail price of about $22, Warners executives said.

This will be nice. Though the article says that many franchies don't do this, I think this is the best idea ever. Get people to buy the DVD, get caught up on the movie again. Remember everything that happened, etc.

Atlas Shrugged the movie?

According to this, Atlas Shrugged, the awesome book by Ayn Rand is about to be made in to a movie. They have tried a number of times before, but it has never worked out. Hopefully this time it will. Will be interesting to see if they decide to make this a VERY long movie or a two or three part movie. I also hope they don't lose any messages from the book by the adaption.

Netflix Stuff

An Analysis of Netflix's DVD Allocation System

Yes, I know if was on Slashdot, but this is a very interesting report. I'm thinking it is very close to true too. When I was living back on LI 18 months ago (around that), I was getting 3 movies in the maill, watching all 3, then sending them right back. When I was doing this, I definitely saw a lot of my movies would at least be on Short Wait, if not Long Wait. Well, now, that I am a total Netflix slacker, I see many more movies seem to be available much more often.

I do need to start working on being less of a slacker on this one. I definitely am not properly exploiting my membership. I think if I got a TiVo like I planned on, I would be able to get much better about organizing my time and finding more time for movies and such. Oh yeah and not going out 3-5 nights a week would probably help on this one too.

My name is Neo and I am all around you ...

Don just sent me a link to this: Imax Says Matrix Film Deal A 'Watershed Event' >IMAX

So, I think the plan is:

May 15: Matrix Reloaded @ Park Street
First weekend of June: Matrix Reloaded IMAX (not sure of location, yet!)
Nov 5: BIG DECISION. Do you go to the regular theater or the IMAX theater first? AHHHH. Brain hurts now.

Cheesy Movies

I just watched (watched being a relative term as I was doing both computer and house work while watching) Dave on Encore. I have seen this movie a ton of times, but its always nice to watch something like this when not really paying attention. I think its a totally cute movie and it's nice to have a movie you know on in the background while trying to get things done. It makes it so that you only have to pay attention when you feel like it because you have seen it so many times. All sorts of fun.

Some very cool news

According to this article over at Yahoo News, Kevin Smith has signed on to co-write and executive produce Scary Movie 3. Maybe this time it will actually be good, since I felt the first two fell rather short. With David Zucker from The Naked Gun and Airplane already signed on to direct, this could possibly be one of the funniest spoofs ever.

Movie Reviews ...

Slacked in this category for a while and since a) I am excited about the movies on their way and b) I am sitting and waiting for a database to build, I should post some reviews. Movies coming tomorrow are Men in Black II and Austin Powers in Goldmember. Should be a good movie watching weekend. (Though with a party on Saturday and the Pats on Sunday, who knows if I will really get to them). Now, on to some recent rentals from Netflix as always.

The Sweetest Thing
This movie was cute. Basically showing the raunchier side of women. In the end was a love story, but had some rather amusing moments. Definitely something I would watch on cable if it came on and I was sitting around, but don't think it would be something I am going to go and buy.

Star Wars Episode 2: The Attack of the Clones
Much better than Episode 1, thank God. The last 20-30 mins were STELLAR visually and action-wise. The movie overall was still pretty good. I don't think I liked Hayden Christensen as Anakin. I just didn't like the way he delivered some lines. I did like him in Life as a House, but though his line deliveries were similar in that movie, they fitted his character more there. I'll probably pick this one up on DVD eventually to have and watch from time to time.

The Queen of the Damned
This one definitely fell short. I didn't feel they really worked the plot out as much as they could have in the movie. I haven't read the book (or any of her books, YET!), so I didn't know the back story and I felt like it was not well developed in the movie. I did like the music a ton though. Jonathan Davis of Korn sounds great as the Vampite Lestat.

The Sum of All Fears
I liked this MUCH more than I thought I would. Ben Affleck did a rather good job of portraying a young Jack Ryan. I did think he got a bit jittery at times as Ben does, but I thought the plot worked real well. I was suprised by some aspects of it, as it was not the happy go lucky movie I assumed it to be. Some real nice visual effects in this one as well.

That's all for now. I still need to catch a couple of movies in the theater like 8 Mile and more so Harry Potter. I say more so, because the visual effects are much better on the big screen than my little TV. Some day I will buy the 36 or 50 something inch TV I reaaly want.

8 Mile

An article up on MTV.com says that Christina Aguilera showed up for the 8 Mile premiere. Very interesting. I just wonder why she showed. You think she finally gave in and is now all over Eminem? Who knows.

I really want to see this movie. I think it could be very good, especially with all the critics talking about how good it is supposed to be. I really think Eminem is a great artist in his music, so I think that he probably could pull this acting thing off pretty well, as well. Also, since it is based on his own life, I don't think it will be too hard for him to act the part.

Oh yeah, and Britttany Murphy being in it can't hurt, right?

Movie Weekend ...

I watched 3 movies this week (so far). Some quick reviews ...

Spider-Man
This movie was great. I felt they did a great job with the plot and getting across who Spider-Man was and how he became that way and then proceeded to almost make another movie from that back story. The action sequences and special effects were awesome. The fact that Kirsten Dunst looked awesome through the whole movie had no affect on this review, I swear :)

Pecker
I think this movie was trying to make a point. I got it, but I didn't feel a movie was needed to get it across. I think it could have been a good movie, but tried to be too abstract and wierd. I dunno. Not the movie I was hoping for, I guess.

Insomnia
I was really looking forward to seeing this as it was directed by Christopher Nolan who wrote and directed Memento, one of my recent favorite movies. This movie was good, but definitely not anywhere near as good as Memento. In Memento, the audience became very confused as they were seeing much of the movie from the point of view of someone with amnesia. It basically messed with your head. In this movie, Pacino and Williams characters tried to mess with each other's minds. I didn't feel they worked it as well as they could have. I think Pacino did a good job in his part, though I didn't feel he showed as much emotion as he could have in some of the later segments as he did in the earlier part of the movie. Williams seemed rather dry to me. Though this might have been part of his character, I don't think it was the same dryness that someone going through what he was going through would have shown. I'd like to see how he pulled off a somewhat (at least from the previews) character in One Hour Photo.

Movie Mania

I've watched a bunch of movies lately, so I thought I would write a bunch of quick reviews.

Kissing Jessica Stein

Before this movie came out, I was told to go see it by a former co-worker. The reason being thet his sister, Heather Juergensen, was the one of the writers and co-stars. It looked interesting in commercials and since I don't go to the movies all that often, I figured I would just wait until it came out on DVD. This was a really good movie. It was a lot of smart comedy and has a cute premise. Defintely worth seeing. Might even be something I pick up on DVD some time in the future.

Changing Lanes
This movie was nowhere near as good as I had hoped it would be. It had a promising premise, but when it came out, it just didn't come out right. I felt that Sam Jackson did not do a good job of portraying the character he was cast in. It could have been the script as well. In the end, it just didn't come off. He is trying to be a man losing his mind because of the things that Ben Affleck's character was going to him, but in the end he just came off as an angry black man.

Death to Smoochy
This movie was a little wacked. I think I may watch it again this week and pay a little more attention. It had a rather messed up storyline that was more like a storyline on top of a story line. In contrast to Sam Jackson, Robin Williams does an awesome job of potraying a guy going nuts. Some nice little plot twists and stuff in this as well.

Panic Room
This movie was alright. I was not paying all my attention to it, as I was doing stuff here on the computer and stuff, but paid enough attention that I got the jist of it. I think I thought it was going to be more suspenseful, but it just wasn't. Who knows, maybe another viewing this week, but I think its just going to go back to Netflix.

The Scorpion King
This movie was RATHER hyped due to the fact that the WWE's (ne WWF's) star The Rock was the lead in the movie. I heard things like he was the next Arnold and all sorts of stuff. Overall, sure, it was a good action movie, The Rock definitely does a good job of making the fight sequences and whatnot seem real. But, in the end, thats about all it was, nothing spectacular.

Recent Movies ...

I've watched a bunch of movies as of late.

Blade 2

I am a huge fan of Blade, own it on DVD, watch it from time to time, etc. When I heard the second movie was coming out, I was psyched. I wanted to see it in theaters, but didn't get a chance to. When the DVD release date was announced, I made sure to put it right on the top of my Netflix list.

I watched this hoping for the best. It was ok, nowhere near as good as I had hoped. Some of the action sequences were awesome, but at points too fake. It seemed like they put some computer animation in the middle of some of the action sequences. I didn't like that. The storyline was pretty good. The minor part of the love story was kind of weak. In the end, ok, but nowhere near as good as the original.

The New Guy

I really like all the teen movies. I've seen most of them a few times, so I assumed that this was gonna be another one I would enjoy. I was dead wrong. This movie was horrible. The only redeeming part of this movie is the 5 minutes of Eliza Dushku trying on bathing suits. And that's not even all that great.

Dead Again

I got this movie because Scenes from a Memory by Dream Theater is loosely based on it. Because of this, I knew a decent part of what the story was going to be about. In the end, it was an excellent movie. I really enjoyed it. It had some good plot twists and the acting was rather good.

Mulholland Drive

I got this because I heard it was somewhat like Memento in that it was somewhat of a mindfuck. It definitely was. Very strange things happening throughout and very confusing. But in the end, a very cool movie. This may be one for the buy list.

Ocean's Eleven

I got this from Columbia House a while back because I forgot to send the card in, so I decided to finally watch it. It was pretty good. Nothing over the top, but in the end a very interesting movie. I think I need to go out and rent the original to see how it compares.

John Q

This movie was rather good. I am still iffy on the whole political statement it made, but I thought told a decent story. I think some of the suspense came out of it having some good thoughts that things would probably work out in th end. And Heather Wahlquist is damn hot.

Back in Black

Last night, I got a couple of movies from Netflix, so I decided to throw one in and lay down to try and take a nap (yesterday was not a good day at all). I had Shallow Hal and Orange County. Both being Jack Black movies. I am a big fan of his, especially in his music group Tenacious D. I decided upon Shallow Hal to throw in first.

This movie was pretty much what you would have expected. A couple of rather odd characters, situations in it like a man who walked on his feet and hands. All in all, not a bad movie, but I didn't think it had many real Jack Black moments. Definitely worth the rent, but don't think it would be a movie I would watch over and over again.

Still up when the movie ended, instead of being sound asleep as the hope had been. I flipped on the Red Sox game for a while, watched Ozzfest Uncensored (which seemed kind of old), and basically just channel surfed. I soon enough landed on another Jack Black movie, High Fidelity. I saw this in the theaters a few years ago with some friends and enjoyed it then, so I watched some of it for a while. Finally, I decided I would throw the other movie in.

Orange Country was rather amusing. Jack Black definitely had many more moments like you would have expected from him. I enjoyed this movie alot. I thought all the characters were real good and the acting was rather good, especially since alot of the main characters were somewhat newcomers. I thought the ending was a bit cheesy, but other than that, I thought it was a great flick.
