December 2006 Archives
Saw this. My question is if you AVERAGE 4 drinks a day over the course of the week (even if you have your 28 drinks for the week in 2 or 3 days), are you still increasing your life span? :)
from all my recent del.icio.us postings, I bought a MacBook Pro this past weekend. 15"/2.33Ghz Core2Duo / 2GB / 120GB. It's a freaking sweet machine. Still putting lots of things on it. Still figuring out how to use it right. Been bugging the hell out of my Mac friends :) My biggest issue right now is e-mail, but that is a topic for a post all on it's own. The one thing that has impressed me the most thus far is that I can have all sorts of stuff running and it all just runs. No slow downs, no issues, just goes. Yeah, I'm turning in to a convert pretty damn quickly. More as I play more.

Newer Version of Eve Mon
So, I get in my car this morning around 8:30, turn the key and NOTHING happens. Confused, I try a few more times, still nothing. I look, the lights and radio are working fine, so it doesn't seem to be the battery. This is all very strange. I grab the manual and start looking through and I find nothing about a kill switch, so I am even more confused.
I head back in to the house and boot up the laptop. I do a couple of searches which give me nothing. Finally I search on "2001 grand am gt won't start" (the amusing part of this is after thinking some later, I realize I have a 2002, but that is besides the point) and find this article. It says:
The problem is that the RKE (remote keyless entry) system has a defect in it that causes car not to start. As of now there is no recall on the passlock systems. As for a fix, the experts are honestly not sure. To reset the computerized system, put key in the ignition and leave it in 'On' position for about ten minutes. Then turn it off, and try - it should start then. Warning: Continued resetting of the computer this way will eventually damage computer and will cost lots to replace/fix.
So, I head out to the car and switch it to the on position. After sitting for about 10 or 11 minutes, the SECURITY light which has been blinking stops blinking and goes solid. I go from On to Start and STILL NOTHING. Crap! So, I turn the car off and try again and the car starts right up.
I turn the car off and head back in to the house to get all my stuff, jump in the car, it starts no problem and off I go. Thanks Google!.
The bad part is that I realized (after I had passed a cop or two) that I left my manual, which has my registration in it, sitting on my coffee table. Got to remember not to drive like a maniac heading home, so I don't get pulled over without my registration on me.
All in all, not too bad, since I saved myself from having to call AAA and get towed by checking in with Google first :)
On Saturday night, I headed out to Dante's @ Firefley's to check out Slip Kid. Slip Kid is a Who tribute band consisting of Gary Cherone (Extreme, Van Halen), his brother Markus, Paul Mangone, Dana Spellman and Jeff Calder. I was really looking forward to this since I had heard good things from a lot of different people.
Tom and I got to the venue about 9 and the parking lot was PACKED. After getting inside, it seems that many of the cars were for the restaurant. After about 15 mins of waiting, we got a spot and headed in. A band was setting up (which turned out to be Flesh or most of the members of) when we got in. Soon after heading in, they began. They were pretty good, but I wasn't overly impressed. Markus joined them for the last song or two.
A little while after they headed off, Slip Kid came on. They did two sets of great renditions of Who music. Though the band sounded awesome, I was a little disappointed in the sound. Not sure if it was the room (which I was VERY not impressed with) or the mix, but it wasn't great. I've got a copy of the set list which I will put up at some point later, but pretty much they touch on all the hits as well as a number of other songs.

Tivo To Go Cracked :)
Spent much of the day trying to play catch up from the last few weeks. Just about have the Inbox all cleaned out now. The aggregator is all caught up. Got some stuff done around the house, but there is still some more to do (laundry being the big one). The other big to do (and this is going to sound so sad) is to get the Tivos all caught up. Between all the recent travel and things, I was WAY behind on the Tivos. Made some progress today, but there's going to be a lot of TV watched this week in order to really catch up.
Once I get a few more things caught up, I will actually catch everyone up on the life (though, most people who read this probably know the whole story by now :)
