My sister had her baby this morning. His name is Gregory Robert. He was born at 11:51AM. He is 8lbs 4 ozs and 20 inches long. I'll head to NY next weekend for the new mom's first mother's day and to hang out with my new nephew.
April 2005 Archives
Watched some more movies over the last few days.
First, I watched Dickie Roberts - Former Child Star. I had little to no expectations for this movie. It really hadn't seem to do much in the theaters, so I figured it was going to be background noise. Luckily, I was pleasantly surprised. This was actually pretty funny. Had some definite laugh out loud moments. Not going to win any awards, but definitely funny.
Watched Elektra last night. I thought this was really good. Some great action in it. And anything with Jen Garner can't be that bad. A very nice looking movie too.
This is the third anniversary of starting this blog. Originally, Skadz's Junt, I finally came up with a better name eventually :) This is post 1353. Damn, I like to run my mouth :)
Anyone else notice Phish's Tweezer Reprise being played over the PA @ Fenway when Matt Clement was being pulled from the game tonight? Theo must have let his stoner friends run the music tonight :)
Spent much of the weekend on the couch catching up on Netflix and some TiVo.
Closer. This was a cool flick. A little hard to follow at times, since it jumped around a bunch in time, but otherwise I liked it. Natalie Portman half naked in parts was also a plus :)
Ray. This movie was incredible. It is amazing that Ray actually survived as much as he went through. Definitely an incredible soul and an amazing musician and I think this movie was a great representation of his life.
Napoleon Dynamite. Cute movie. I've heard the more you watch it the more you like it.
The Battle of Shaker Heights. This was the last Project Greenlight movie. I definitely saw a lot of potential in this movie, but it fell a bit short. I think this may be a byproduct of Project Greenlight. I've been watching the current season and I can see where things might cause the movie to stray from what seems to be an excellent concept to a so so movie.
One year ago today, I chopped off all my hair. Rather scary. Of course, I have grown to love my short hair, but don't love the maintenance. I'm horrible about getting my hair cut and my hair quickly gets out of control. But, in the end, its nice to have it short, definitely will be keeping it this way for a while.
Hugh over at Gaping Void has made limited edition t-shiirts of some of his comics available. Get em while they're hot!
Over at FlickrBlog, they have been announcing all the new upgrades and pricing due to their being bought by Yahoo. Very cool. Now, I just need to actually go an purchase a full account.
It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood! It's 10AM and it's already 72. Working from home today with all the windows WIDE open. So nice.
I was checking a great Phish tablature resource, Emil's Tablature last night and saw it has been converted to a wiki. They are using MediaWiki.
This is a great use of a wiki. It allows anyone to add fixes and updates to tablature and will hopefully become the most accurate tablature site for Phish. Very Cool.
Movable Type - News - Movable Type 3.16 released. Installed.
Update: And uninstalled. That was ugly. Upgrading caused authentication to be completely messed up. Each time I tried to log in, it worked for that one page and then it logged me back out. I used the full install tarball of 3.15 and it works again.
Trying to get help on the movable type forums totally caused even more issues. I forgot my password, so I hit the link, it sent me mail, put in all that information and it tells me my password (from the mail it just sent me) is incorrect. GREAT!
I'm going to step away from the machine now.
Just got an IM from a buddy that said:
help! I was chewing on a paperclip and it got stuck in my tongue piercing
I found it rather hilarious.
And a lot more. Trey and Ben Haper will co-headline the Zooma Tour this summer. This is put on by the folks behind Bonnaroo and seems to be being touted as a travelling mini-Roo. And even more money dumps from the wallet.
More money out the window .....
BIG SUMMER CLASSIC 2005 JUST ANNOUNCED:
The traveling festival features headliners The String Cheese Incident plus touring heavyweights Keller Williams, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Yonder Mountain String Band, Umphrey's McGee and New Monsoon.
A few weeks back, I finally got another 512M of RAM for my laptop. It was one of the happiest days I have had in a while. My computer finally worked the way I knew it could :)
Well, on Friday morning, my hard drive started acting up. Argh! I got a new one from IT and spent most of my weekend putting the machine back together. Luckily, I was able to successfully pull all the data off my old drive (unlike last time).
So, now I have pretty much a brand new laptop in the last couple of weeks. Yay, me.
The biggest issue now is I need to figure out a valid way to back up my machine. I borrowed a USB drive from IT here at work and it was VERY VERY VERY slow. Took like 3 or 4 hours to get 11.5 gigs of data off one disk.
Anyone have any suggestions?
In tribute to Marathon Monday, WAAF is doing a hair band marathon during Mistress Carrie's show today. Sweet!
If you didn't hear, WAAF is once again streaming on the Internet. Stream sounds awesome. Great to have AAF at work finally.
It's Marathon Monday. I'd like to be at the game or spending the day bopping around Boston drinking too much beer, but sadly, that is not to be this year. I'm stuck at the office.
The one saving grace is that Giant Glass is coming today to replace my windshield. Next step, get the inspection done. I hate having a car. Way too much involved in taking care of it.
Can someone teach the CTU agents to use vibrate on their cellphones?
Yes, I'm still alive.
