Alien Vs Predator

Watched AVP: Alien Vs. Predator yesterday morning. It was pretty good. Considering I had heard it was horrible, I enjoyed it. Something good to pass the time in the background while I did other things. The plot got a little ridiculous with the Predator teaming up with the girl, but other than that, it was neat. Some good fight scenes between the Alien and the Predator. I like the tie in to the original Alien series with Lance Henriksen being in the movie. I was really waiting for Jesse Ventura to show up though :)

Inspiration

Finally found some inspiration this morning and updated my VERY out of date Dream Theater site. Lots going on with a few of the members touring and the band finishing their new album. Just a few more things to update and then I think I am going to start a recruiting mission. I seem not to have the time to keep up any more, so I want to try and get some folks who do have some time to update the site. We'll see how this works out.

Five Man Acoustic Anniversary

Headed to Avalon tonight to go see Tesla with some friends. They are on an acoustic tour to commemorate the 15th Anniversary of Five Man Acoustic Jam. Never seen them before, so I am totally psyched.

From General to Island Inhabitant

I've been watching The West Wing on Bravo and currently watching last season. I've noticed a face that has become familiar to me on this season's TV and got a kick out of it.

Terry O'Quinn played General Nicholas Alexander on a few epidoes of WW last season. Now he plays Locke on Lost.

I dig him on Lost and have a theory he is somehow involved in what is happening (watching the way he seems to be manipulating a number of folks) and like to see him in a role that I am not used to seeing him in.

Law-less

The Super Bowl Champion Patriots released Ty Law today. Sad to see him go, but he really didn't play this year and this will help out with the cap, so it may be a good move. We'll have to wait until next year to see.

ADD Meetup

I subscribe to an RSS feed of upcoming Meetups in the Boston area. Today, I saw one for the Attention Deficit Disorder Meetup. What must that group be like? I mean, if you have ADD, you can't really listen to other people talk for too long. I think I should show up and start throwing shiny things around :)

Ozzfest 2005 Rumored Lineup

According to Ozzfest Unofficial Updates, the Ozzfest 2005 lineup, may look like this:

MAIN STAGE
Black Sabbath
Iron Maiden
Anthrax ("Among The Living" lineup)
Black Label Society

SECOND STAGE
Rob Zombie
Mudvayne
Killswitch Engage
A Dozen Furies

Also a possiblity of Life of Agony being involved.

I definitely will be checking that out if the lineup ends up like that. Between Maiden, old Anthraz and KE, this show is shaping up to be incredible.

Firefox 1.0.1 out

Firefox 1.0.1 has been released. What's new from the release nots:

  • Improved stability
  • International Domain Names are now displayed as punycode. (To show International Domain Names in Unicode, set the "network.IDN_show_punycode" preference to false.)
  • Several security fixes.

Go get it and make your Internet life a little more secure.

Fedora Core Rawhide Inotify Kernels

Thanks to rml's new MM patches for Inotify, I was able to get the latest Fedora Core Rawhide kernel to build with Inotify support. They are available here. Go try em out if you want to run Beagle on Fedora Rawhide.

Reason 8375 to hate Windows

Why oh why do you STOP my installation of patches to tell me nothing is wrong? This is the dumbest popup ever:

Dumb Windows

In the closet

An article on CNN.com about Tom Poston who plays the clown in the closet on Committed. If you aren't watching this show, you should be. It's VERY funny. Very quirky, random, crazy humor.

Reason 8374 to hate Windows

Why oh why should I ever get this error when trying to update my system:

I mean, why should Windows Update have ANY care of what time it is on my system? It should look, see what updates I have, what updates I am missing and install the ones that are missing. So stupid.

Wasting Time

I had grand plans for this past weekend. I had 4 days (comp day Friday after LWE). I hoped to get caught up on a lot of things. Lots of domestic stuff was planned, lots of organization stuff, hopes to get some ideas moved farther along. Alas, I failed miserably. I got some stuff done, but in the end, I made no progress on a number of things I was really hoping to move forward.

I was also hoping to get this place back to something up to date. I did a bit of posting, but nowhere near how much I wanted to. Lots of stuff has happened lately (LWE, Hula, new Mono, new Beagle, etc etc) that I'd like to comment on. Maybe tomorrow.

Two More Cities!

The Metroblogging Universe continues to grow. Two more cities added: Karachi and Manila.

Link of the Day

Thanks to cms, I present you with The Great Cornholio Soundboard.

Hynes WiFi

Headed over to the Hynes today to start setting up for Linux World and noticed a Hynes Wireless Network ESSID. Connected to it no problem. Then started up Firefox to see what they were going to charge me. The site popped up, redirected me about 3 times and I was ready to go. Woohoo! Free WiFi. This will be nice during setup and breakdown. Usually it means sitting around doing nothing, this time it means sitting around downloading porn! No wait, working! Yeah, that's it, working!

You MUST be kidding me

I heard something earlier in the week about this, but figured it just couldn't be true. Well, it is. For their Super Bowl preview show, the best DAMN Sports Show Period changed their named to the Best DARN Super Bowl Road Show. You MUST MUST MUST be kidding me. They switched damn to darn for who? Was this really necessary? So sad the days we live in.

Feel it HOT HOT HOT

It's a GORGEOUS day here in Boston. Bright and sunny out, 45 degrees already, might we hit 50? Hopefully this will do some big damage to the snow banks. Got the windows wide up to get some needed fresh air in to the house. Now just to get some stuff done and make it a productive day.
