Now that's funny

I guess I've totally switched now

Got my Bank of America debit card in the mail today, so I guess I have totally switched over to being a BoA customer. I got a gold debit card. I wonder if that's special? They also sent me one of those mini cards to put on your keychain. I put it on for now, will see if I actually use it at all. It's a bit nerve racking to have my credit card on my keys, but I guess I always have my keys with me so what the hell. Bye Bye Fleet, it's been less than fun!

MT 3.15 is out!

Movable Type Publishing Platform: Movable Type 3.15 released

Decisions, Decisions

Now they are saying another 2-4 inches or more for tomorrow. So, do I go attempt to dig out the rest of my car and then have to dig out some more tomorrow/Thursday or do I just wait until this next front passes? Ugh, I hate snow in the city.

From JamBase, Umphrey's McGee (my new favorite band) is going to be on played in the early part of Alias this week!

Ouch!

Holy crap my back hurts. Here's why:

Before
After

And that's the only side that's done. Still 2-3 feet of snow against my driver side.

My work habits

Just found this, describe some of my bad weeks at work:

Blizzard Watch

Holy crap! What a difference a week makes. Last week, when I woke up the weather applet on my computer said it was 66 out. When I woke up this morning, it said it was 1 out. Now, I just read the forecast and they are seeing we may have 1 to 2 FEET of snow by Sunday. I guess I will need to head to the store tomorrow and get provisions so I don't have to leave the house on Sunday. Guess I will be watching the game at home.

Now you know when they will return

Premiere Date for new Family Guy announced!!!

Geek Sex Humor

A little boy asked, "Daddy, how was I born?"

The Dad says, "Ah, my son, I guess one day you will need to find out anyway!

Well, you see your Mom and I first got together in a chat room on MSN.Then I set up a date via e-mail with your Mom and we met at a cyber-cafe. We sneaked into a secluded room, where your mother agreed to a download from my hard drive. As soon as I was ready to upload, we discovered that neither one of us had used a firewall, and since it was too late to hit the delete button, nine months later a blessed little Popup appeared and said:

You've Got Male!

The Fight Continues

Ugh, I've gotten worse today. I woke up stuffed up with a sore throat and now I'm totally wiped out and have aches and pains everywhere. Luckily, it looks like lots of snow tomorrow, so I'm going to be working from home, which will hopefully help me get better once and for all.

Benevento/Russo Duo with Mike Gordon

Just before we rang in the new year, I saw one last show. I headed over to The Paradise in Boston to see the Benevento/Russo Duo with Mike Gordon of Phish playing bass.

The Duo is an Organ and Drum duo. Adding in the bass of Mike was very cool to hear. Though they probably played a bunch of original stuff, I don't really know there music all that well. Most of it just seemed like they were jamming around.

They did a number of cover's including Yes's Roundabout along with Foam by Phish. They also finished with Phish's tune Mike's Song as the encore. For this one, it was the crowd on vocals (though I hear Mike has been singing it at some shows).

The show was very cool. Interesting music and a cool crowd (as is usually found at jam shows). If you'd like to hear the music they created, you can download it here.

Keeping the sickness away

Seems like my early to bed with NyQuil plan worked well. Felt pretty good all day today and feel good tonight. Just need to make sure I eat a little more often, seems when I delay on my meals, I start to feel worse.

Gnome Outliner v0.1

Noticed Gnome Outliner when the announcement asking for people to help working on spec/code came out. They have released version 0.1 as of today. Something people who are fans of outliners may want to try out.

Desk Re-Org

Been trying to re-organize my desk here at work the last few days to hopefully make myself more efficient.

The first step I have taken is moving some of my laptops closer to me, so I can easily access them and use them during the course of the day. In the past I just used these laptops for trade shows and not for my daily work. Now, I am trying to use them to get more done.

Right now, I have 3 of the 4 laptops set up. Directly in front of me, I have my full time laptop, which currently runs Fedora Core Development. This handles all my e-mail, general web, irc, IM, blog reading, etc. Basically, this is the catch-all.

To the left, I have a machine I installed Novell Linux Desktop on yesterday. This machine right now is designated to 2 things. First off, playing with NLD9. I've heard good things from the Novell folks, so I want to play around and see how it is. The second is to use this machine to set up for LinuxWorld.

To the right, I have a Windows XP machine. This machine is going to be used for all the Windows stuff I am currently working on. This will get me out of worrying about incompatabilities and whatnot.

Hopefully, using three machine will help me get more things done, we'll see. It may just make me more scatter brained.

That was step one. Next steps include cleaning up all the paperwork laying around my desk, removing the big monitor that I don't use, cleaning up all my wiring, and then trying to add the 4th laptop (and maybe a 5th) to the setup.

Once I get it all done, hopefully I will have a very useful work environment where I can get a lot done. And then maybe I will post some pretty pictures on Flickr.

Slowly Sickening

Woke up this morning feeling somewhat worse than I did last night. I made it through the day at work, but felt a tinge of ill all day. The ride home I started feeling even worse. Hit Walgreens and bought up a bunch of drugs and some OJ. Took the vitamin type stuff as soon as I got in. Gonna take some NyQuil in a bit to hopefully get some good sleep and get this out of my system before it gets nasty.

Evening Harder

If you are a Kevin Smith and View Askew, you should have seen An Evening With Kevin Smith by now. Well, they now have a second movie coming out called An Evening with Kevin Smith 2: Evening Harder! The good folks over at News Askew have posted a trailer which is just hilarious. Check it out. Oh, and nice little warning label: This contains language rather unsuitable for the faint of heart and whatnot.

Coming Sickness

I will guarantee that before this week ends I am going to end up super sick. I've heard about all sorts of things going around lately and somehow have avoided them all. This just does not happen to me. I'm actually feeling a bit crappy already, but that may just be from a lack of food today, I guess we'll see in the morning. But anyways, I am sure that before the end of this week, I'm going to end up sick. No fun.

Welcome to the end of the relaxing

Well, today is the last day of my vacation. I have worked in a week and a half and it felt good.

Spent much of the time at home with the family. Was the best way to keep me off the streets of Boston, but also nice and relaxing. Great to see everyone while I was there. So nice to see my sister living so happily.

Spent New Year's Eve up in Lawrence, MA (never thought I would say that) seeing some friends play and hanging out with good friends. Was low key, but nice. Spent the last weekend night last night with good friends having some beers.

Been rather lazy over these 10 days, so today needs to be productive. Gotta get my house and life back in order for the wonderful world of the working man. Hopefully, I can approach this year with a new attitude and ready to rock n roll.

Happy New Year!

Happy 2005 All!
